The first edition of the portfolio meets with considerable artistic success. In 1946 archaeologist Ugo Monneret de Villard advises Bianchi Barriviera to enrich and complete this work with a serious technical study of the monuments, with the addition of engraved plates with plans, sections, views, axonometric projections, inner perspectives and architectonic and decorative details of the buildings. Following some fervent work carried out by the engraver during the two following years, a second edition of the portfolio was published in 1949 and the third and final edition was published in 1957 including 65 sheets altogether. A progressive numbering by Arab numerals was added on the plates.
